Hi, I'm Julie. I'm an elementary school teacher from Illinois. I started reading BSB fanfic over the summer of 1999, when I was 14, and I've been writing it for almost as long. My favorite kind of stories to write are drama/angst with a hint of romance, and most of my stories are about Nick or Brian.

OMG, I haven't read this in so long! I am dying! LMFAO. I don't know what was funniest... Howie getting ignored because of Nick and going, "Can I at least sing a song as I go?" or Dr. "Kristof" hoping it was serious or the writer reading her medical terms off the back of a Golden Grahams box or it being a mosquito bite on Nick's leg all along, but I cracked up at it all! It was fun to reread this.

Oh my god, this brought back so many bad memories of 2004! Paris, UGH! You made me appreciate the fact that it's 2013 and Nick is with Lauren and not like this anymore SO MUCH!!! That said, the whole idea of Nick falling out his window and landing on a sandwich and Kevin freaking out about it and Brian rushing over to help him is pretty funny. Random... but funny!

I really love this story. You took a storyline that could be seen as a teenybopper fantasy and made it believable and realistic. You've done an amazing job with the characterization; I haven't experienced some of the things V and Nick have myself, but I feel like I can relate to them because you've made them so understandable and easy to empathize with. I love how you show their inner thoughts; it really helps because they - Veronica especially - don't always act on their feelings, so it's good to know how they really feel, and you do a great job at showing that. You also keep both sides balanced really well, alternating between Nick's and Veronica's perspectives. Also, I really like the way you're tackling some tough issues, like divorce, self-esteem, parents' opinions of us, etc. and doing a fantastic job with them, while still sticking to the budding romance plot. These issues add to the believability of the story and give it more depth; I'm usually pretty picky about romance cause I get bored with it when there's too much "romance" and not enough of anything else, so I really enjoy the real life sort of drama in this story. Keep up the AMAZING work; I can't wait to read more!!
Author's Response: Aww well thanks ROA! I really appreciate the comments! I've tried hard to make it realistic and believeable, but there's always room for improvement of course. I hope to get better as the story progresses cause there's still so much left to be said and done.
As for the issues, I just write about what I know, which is what a close friend of mine once told me. It's life expierences, and I can write it how I see it and I hope it shows in this.

things still aren't right for Nick since his return from the Japan Tour. He is sick and needs help but will he get it in time before it's too late?

This is great so far!! I hardly ever read original fiction online, but I love stories like this, so yours caught my eye, and I'm getting into it already.
My only bit of constructive criticism would be to watch your tenses. Don't switch from past tense to present tense and back to past tense - this chapter does that in places. If you get a chance to go back and edit, that's one thing you might want to watch for.
Other than that, your writing is great!! You really get into your characters' heads, and I like that - makes it easy to relate to them and understand them. :)
